Pro-Bono Coaching Project 2019

We are excited to announce that Hong Kong International Coaching Community (HKICC) will collaborate with KELY Support Group (KELY) to launch a Pro-Bono Coaching Project in 2019. This project will support our coaches in developing their profession as well as serving the community.

We cordially invite our member coaches to be volunteers; help spread coaching to the community and demonstrate the effectiveness of coaching by helping the staff of KELY Support Group develop their profession.
 
 

About KELY Support Group

 
KELY is a non-government funded bilingual organization which provides support to youth between the ages of 14 and 24 in Hong Kong from Chinese-speaking, Ethnic Minority and English-speaking backgrounds with a mission to empower young people to reach their full potential.
 
Their programs and services range from resistance and harm reduction around drug and alcohol misuse to positive youth development for vulnerable and disadvantaged youth. With a priority to understand young people’s perspectives, KELY equip them with key life skills and resilience as they face various challenges growing up in Hong Kong.
 
KELY'S 3 Core Services
Prevention Education & Harm Reduction - Help young people make informed decisions by educating them around drug and alcohol use, building their resilience strategies and harm reduction outreach.
 
Positive Youth Development - Provide opportunities for young people to explore and develop life skills and creative expressions, increasing their aspirations for the future.
 
Advocacy - Raise awareness through mass media, public outreach, and social media about issues that young people in Hong Kong face. - Campaign alongside and on behalf of young people, with the aim to influence policy development, upstream thinking, and funding decisions to respond to their needs.

About Benefits to HKICC Coaches

 
This is an opportunity for HKICC coaches to give back to the community and to network with community business leaders and professionals, as well as other coaches. You will have the opportunity to join a group mentoring session to discuss challenges and develop your own coaching skills. It will also provide experience coaching and support KELY’s management team with leadership and development issues. 
 

 

Outline of the HKICC / KELY Pro-Bono Coaching Project 2019

 
Objectives:

  1. Promote coaching to KELY.
  2. Support participants of the project through helping them to set up, clarify, and come up with action plans for their professional goals.

Target Coachees:
Management Team of KELY.
 


Program Content:

  1. Provision of one staff of KELY per coach with 5 one-hour coaching services (may extend the no. of sessions if mutually agree) in mixed mode, combining face to face and phone coaching.
  2. 3 group mentoring support meetings will be arranged for the coaches at the beginning, middle and after closing of the program.

 
Project Key Timeline:

  1. Coaching Service in mixed mode: mid-February to end of July (may extend depending on the no. of sessions)
  2. Introductory Meeting for coach/coachee matching on January 14, 2019 (a 2-hour session during lunch time preliminarily)
  3. Group preparation mentoring session (Mentor coach candidate to be confirmed) after Chinese New Year in the week of February 11, 2019.
  4. Group review meetings in early May and August 2019 (exact date to be confirmed).

 
Coaches Selection Criteria:
Recruitment of 5 bi-lingual and single lingual coaches (Cantonese and/or English speaking) from HKICC members:

  1. Fluent in Cantonese and/or English
  2. With 100 hours or more coaching experience
  3. Preferably with NGO and executive coaching experience
  4. Commitment to fulfill all coaching sessions and participation in the meetings scheduled for briefing, sharing and evaluation of the project if any
  5. Priority may be given to those who submit their application forms earlier
  6. Selected coaches will be invited to an Introductory Meeting for matching purpose.
