SUMMARY:Join the Next HKICC Coaching Book Club on 25 Jun 2026 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm
DESCRIPTION:Join the Next HKICC Coaching Book Club \nDate: 25 Jun 2026 | Time: 6:30pm to 8:00pm \nVenue: 3/F\, World Trust Tower\, 50 Stanley Street\, Central\, Hong Kong \nOn 25th June\, Ian invites you to explore Viktor Frankl’s Man’s Search for Meaning – not as a book summary\, but as a reflective conversation about what truly sustains us as coaches\, as parents\, and as human beings. \n  \nWhy This Book\, Why This Host \nFrankl’s core insight – that meaning can be found even in suffering – resonates deeply with Ian’s own coaching philosophy. Frankl spoke of three pathways to meaning: through creative work\, through love and relationships\, and through the attitude we choose toward unavoidable hardship. \nAs coaches\, we often sit with clients who have lost a sense of purpose – in their careers\, their families\, or themselves. And as human beings\, we carry our own questions about what makes the struggle worthwhile. \nIan knows this search personally. He spent fifteen years working across three family businesses — his father’s\, his cousin’s\, and his uncle’s. He first read Frankl in 2017\, in the middle of that journey. But it was only after he left that the book truly opened up for him. \nReading it again\, he found himself resonating with Frankl’s observations from the concentration camp — not because the experiences are comparable in severity\, but because of what they share in structure. In a family business\, as in the camp\, there are many things outside your control. And the harder you try to control them\, the more it works against you. What Frankl offered was a different question entirely — not “how do I control this?” but “what meaning can I find within it?” \nThat shift is what Ian now brings to the sons and daughters he coaches — caught between personal ambition and love for the family\, unsure whether the life they are living is one they chose or one that was chosen for them. \nWhat This Session Offers You \n\n     A safe space to ask: What gives my own coaching work meaning – beyond success metrics?\n     Dialogue about how we support clients who are struggling to find their ‘why’\n     Practical connections between Frankl’s ideas and our work as coaches and as human beings\n     A chance to reflect on a moment in your own life where Frankl’s ideas would have changed how you saw things\n     An honest look at the gap between the meaning we help our clients find and the questions we quietly carry ourselves\n\nBook: Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl \nYou don’t need to have finished the book. You don’t need to be an expert on logotherapy.  You just need to bring your curiosity – and perhaps a question of your own. \nEvent Details: \n📅 Date: 25th Jun\, 2026 \n🕒 Time: 6:30pm to 8:00pm \n📍 Venue: 3/F\, World Trust Tower\, 50 Stanley Street\, Central\, Hong Kong \nFee: Early Bird on or before 11 June 2026 \nHKICC Members : HK$150 (Early Bird HK$120) \nHKICC Members Tickets for 2 (Extra 10% off) : HK$270 (Early Bird HK$216) \nNon-HKICC Members : HK$250 (Early Bird HK$200) \nNon-HKICC Members Tickets for 2 (Extra 10% off) : HK$450 (Early Bird HK$360) \nCome ready to sit with questions that don’t have easy answers – and to discover that sometimes\, the questions themselves are the meaning we’ve been looking for. \n“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms — to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances\, to choose one’s own way.” – Viktor Frankl\, Man’s Search for Meaning \nHost by \n \nIan Cheng – Family Business Coach\, ICF Accredited \nIan Cheng is an ICF credentialed coach who works with sons and daughters navigating life inside a family business. With a background in engineering and an MBA\, and experience living and working across the US\, Canada\, Japan\, Thailand\, and Hong Kong\, he brings both analytical rigour and genuine empathy to his coaching. \nHis own introduction to coaching came during a period of uncertainty while working in his uncle’s business. A coach helped him clarify his identity\, values\, and strengths. That experience is what brought him to this work. \nIan trained in Solution-Focused coaching through Erickson International and strengths-based coaching through Gallup. \nSign up Here \n

SUMMARY:HKICC Coaching Book Club – Second meeting
DESCRIPTION:HKICC Coaching Book Club – Second meeting \nFrom a Simple Gathering to a Powerful Learning Community \nFocused book: The Coaching Habit by Michael Bungay Stanier. \n \nIf you are a coach who longs for real conversation\, reflective learning\, and supportive community\, we warmly invite you to join our next gathering hosted by Vipul Malhotra on 26th March 2026 . Here’s a note from him. \nYes\, we’ll talk about the famous 7 questions—but the real magic is how it shapes a more powerful way of being. This book is a secret weapon for anyone looking to drive positive change\, cultivate curiosity in their teams\, and show up as a more impactful and less directive leader. \nI’d love for you to join me\, to unpack this together. If you have read the book\, are thinking about it\, or are simply curious about transforming your leadership approach\, please come along! Let’s explore how to create ripples of change\, starting with our very next conversation. \nCome not just to read a book — but to grow your practice\, expand your thinking\, and connect with fellow coaches who are walking the same path. \nEvent Details: \n📅 Date: 26th March\, 2026 \n🕒 Time: 6:30pm to 8:00pm \n📍 Venue: 3/F\, World Trust Tower\, 50 Stanley Street\, Central\, Hong Kong \nFee: Early Bird on or before 12 Mar 2026 \nHKICC Members : HK$150 (Early Bird HK$120) \nHKICC Members Tickets for 2 (10% off) : HK$270 (Early Bird HK$216) \nNon-HKICC Members : HK$250 (Early Bird HK$200) \nNon-HKICC Members Tickets for 2 (10% off) : HK$450 (Early Bird HK$360) \nParticipants are to purchase their own book (physical or kindle) and ticket prices do not include cost of book purchase \nHighlight from the first Coaching Book Club meeting: \nWhat began as a simple book club meeting to explore The Coaching Solopreneur quickly became something much more meaningful. \nHosted by Nicholas Wai\, the first HKICC Coaching Book Club brought together coaches who arrived not to impress\, but to learn\, reflect\, and grow together. From the very start\, there was a genuine openness in the room — a shared curiosity and an immediate sense of community. \nNick’s facilitation created a space that felt both safe and spacious\, allowing for honest sharing\, thoughtful dialogue\, and respectful focus. The book itself became more than reading material; it acted as a mirror\, prompting deeper reflection on essential questions: \n\nWhy do we do what we do?\nWhat is at the heart of our coaching practice?\n\nParticipants left with far more than chapter insights. They carried: \n\nPractical ideas for growing a sustainable coaching business\nA reflective questionnaire for continued self-development\nMeaningful new connections within the coaching community\nFresh perspectives that continue to resonate beyond the session\n\nThis experience reminded us that a book club can be far more than a discussion of text. When held with intention\, it becomes a collaborative learning incubator — a space for professional reflection\, authentic networking\, and shared wisdom that turns passive reading into lived insight. \n———————————————————————————————————— \nWhat Participants Shared \n“A wonderful introduction to the community — with a real spirit of co-creation and collaboration.” \n“Thrilling insights and deep exchanges that revealed blind spots and inspired growth in our coaching journeys.” \n“Less like a book discussion and more like a shared learning space. I left with practical insights\, new perspectives\, and a genuine sense of connection. Come and join us next time!” \n  \nSign Up Here

SUMMARY:Launch of the HKICC Coaching Book Club on 28 Jan 2026\, 6:00pm to 8:00pm
DESCRIPTION:Launch of the HKICC Coaching Book Club \nDate: 26 Jan 2026 | Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM | Venue: 3/F\, World Trust Tower\, 50 Stanley Street\, Central\, Hong Kong \nWe coaches are an interesting bunch. \nWe love learning—not only to better support and empower our clients\, but also to continue our own growth toward greater mastery and maturity. \nMany of us (myself included) have shelves filled with books we genuinely wanted to read when we bought them… and yet somehow never quite got around to opening. And even when we do read\, the real challenge is not finishing the book\, but harvesting insights we can actually apply in our coaching and our lives. \nIf this sounds familiar\, you’re not alone. \nWith this in mind\, HKICC is delighted to launch the HKICC Coaching Book Club—a space designed to support you in dusting off those unread books\, learning together\, and turning ideas into practice through shared reflection\, conversation\, and a good dose of laughter. \nPerhaps this is something you’ve been wishing for\, without quite naming it. \nOur first book selection\n \nWe’ll begin with The Coaching Solopreneur by Kate Freedman. \nBeing a coach isn’t only about coaching well—it’s also about how we run our coaching business in a way that is sustainable\, human\, and aligned with our values. Whether you are a seasoned coach or newly inspired on this path\, there is always room to refine how we operate as a “coaching solopreneur\,” so we can spend more time doing the work that truly matters: coaching clients we care about. \nWritten in accessible language and a clear\, practical structure\, Kate Freedman shares the process that helped her not only sustain a successful coaching practice\, but also stay sane while balancing work\, life\, family\, and entrepreneurship. \nWhat stood out most for me was the importance of laying strong foundations at the start—and the need for regular review and renewal as our practice evolves and grows. \n📖 You can find the book here:  https://www.amazon.com/dp/191585007X \nHow it will work \nWith the year-end holidays just around the corner\, this is a wonderful time to pick up the book and read at your own pace. \n🗓 On 28 January 2026\, we’ll come together to: \n\nShare insights and reflections\nExplore selected exercises together\nClose with a simple\, practical action plan that can flow naturally into your New Year intentions\n\nWe hope this Book Club becomes a nourishing space for learning\, connection\, and thoughtful practice. \nWishing you a restful holiday season and an inspiring\, rewarding start to the new year—and we very much hope to see you there. 🌱 \nEvent Details: \n📅 Date:  28th Jan\, 2026 \n🕒 Time: 6:00pm to 8:00pm \n📍 Venue: 3/F\, World Trust Tower\, 50 Stanley Street\, Central\, Hong Kong \nFee: Early Bird on or before 14 Jan 2026 \nHKICC Members : HK$150 (Early Bird HK$120) \nHKICC Members Tickets for 2 (10% off) : HK$270 (Early Bird HK$216) \nNon-HKICC Members : HK$250 (Early Bird HK$200) \nNon-HKICC Members Tickets for 2 (10% off) : HK$450 (Early Bird HK$360) \nParticipants are to purchase their own book (physical or kindle) and ticket prices do not include cost of book purchase
