Discover how to access the unconscious patterns that drive clients—and yourself—using the Hero’s Journey and the House of Self

On 28 August, 21 members of the HKICC community came together for the first workshop in our Coaching Beyond the GROW Model series: The Hero’s Journey: Coaching Beyond the Conscious. Facilitators Henry Chamberlain and Steve Wu led the group through the stages of the Hero’s Journey using their own personal stories as examples. This approach made the model tangible and accessible, allowing participants to see it not only as an abstract framework, but as a mirror for their own lives and a metaphor for personal and professional growth. The emphasis was on personal application: recognising the thresholds we cross, the journeys we avoid, and the role of personal evolution in becoming more impactful, transformational coaches. Their openness and vulnerability created space for lively discussion and meaningful self-reflection. Participants left the session feeling inspired and challenged to revisit their own journeys with a fresh perspective.
We now look forward to Part Two of the series on 24 September, immediately after the AGM. This session will introduce the House of Self model, exploring the unconscious architecture of the self — the parts we hide, the stories that shape us, and the source of our deepest growth.
