Review of 3rd HKICC Coaching Bookclub meeting

(7 May 2026)

Yesterday (May 7), I had the privilege of hosting our book review session, as shared in the flyer, and I’m genuinely grateful for the experience. I was very impressed by the active participants—people came prepared, engaged thoughtfully, and contributed with honesty. Their presence made the session energizing, meaningful, and truly collaborative.

One of the greatest values of these sessions is that they create a psychologically safe space for fellow coaches to share the “trial and tribulations” of their practice. In an environment where it’s safe to be real, we can speak about challenges, dilemmas, and lessons learned without fear of judgment.

I also noticed how powerful the sharing of experiences and insights can be. Listening to others reflect on their coaching work naturally invites us to pause and examine our own practice. It encourages self-awareness, deeper learning, and even better coaching conversations beyond the room.

The theme of *growth mindset* was especially fundamental to the work of coaches. We explored it through multiple perspectives—coach and coachee, as well as team leader and team member—so the learning stayed practical and connected to real workplace dynamics.

Personally, hosting taught me that the more time I invest in researching and preparing, the more I deepen my understanding. And because this topic is so central to coaching, it also sparked rich and in-depth discussion very naturally.

I hope more members will step forward and volunteer to host in future sessions—there’s real value in giving, sharing, and learning together.
