📢 Message from the Board
Happy New Year, and welcome to a new quarter.
As we settle into 2026, the world around us continues to shift. We are navigating an environment marked by uncertainty, conflict, and the need for profound recalibration. In today’s trying times, the call for resilience—within ourselves, our families, and our communities—has never been more urgent.
Nicholas’s message at the start of the year gave us our word: CREATE. As I reflect on the first quarter and look ahead, I find myself expanding on that word. To create is not only to build something new; it is an act of resilience.
One of the deepest tenets of resilience is the capacity to find meaning and purpose, especially in the face of adversity.
As Viktor Frankl taught us, “Those who have a ‘why’ to live for can bear with almost any ‘how’.” Resilience is not about avoiding the storm, but about finding our anchor within it. It is a process of meaning-making. Similarly, Froma Walsh, a pioneer in family and community resilience, reminds us that resilience is not a solo endeavor; it is sustained through shared belief systems, clear purpose, and—most critically—community.
We create resilience when we come together. We create it when we engage in deep, purposeful connection. We create it when we learn alongside one another, and when we contribute to something larger than ourselves.
This quarter, we have been doing exactly that.
Creating Connection & Dialogue
We have embraced the power of shared exploration. Our new platform – Coaching Book Club has held two insightful sessions, creating space for us to reflect deeply on our practice and our purpose. These gatherings are a testament to the fact that when we read together, we grow together. Meanwhile, Vanessa has led two beautifully authentic Heart to Heart in the Coaching Ecosystem events, with another on the horizon. These sessions have offered us a sanctuary for honest conversation and looking at coaching from three different lenses—Coachee, Client/HR, and Intermediaries or L&D companies.
In March, we came together for our Spring Drink—an evening of relaxed connection inspired by the spirit of creativity and openness. Over mocktails and cocktails, members engaged in thoughtful reflection led by Nicholas, and conversations deepened around contribution and community. The evening marked the beginning of something new and inspiring for us all.
Creating Impact Through Action
Our greatest hope and inspiration comes from seeing our community members step into leadership and service. This is where resilience takes tangible form—in the quiet, consistent dedication of our members.
I am deeply moved by Ian Cheng and grateful for his contribution. Ian has been leading our project with Habitat for Humanity ,Hong Kong with such commitment and heart along with 6 other coaches from the coaching community. Thank you Parcae Sin, Robin Wong, Selina Wong, Christine Simms, Alex Fong and Jing Zhang.
I am equally grateful to Shalini Bindal for leading the Education SIG with incredible dedication, and to Rainbow Chow for her solid, consistent support in that work. Together, they are bringing a coaching mindset into schools, planting seeds of resilience in teachers, administrators, and students—equipping them with the tools to find their own meaning and purpose.
Rainbow’s contributions, however, extend far beyond the Education SIG. She has been instrumental in organising HKICC events, quietly ensuring that the event is solidly supported—securing space, coordinating logistics, making sure every detail is in place so our gatherings can unfold seamlessly. One of her key strengths is her ability to work in the shadows, juggling multiple roles with grace and dedication. Since joining the leadership team, she has consistently put the community’s needs first, reminding us that resilience is often built through unseen acts of care—the steady, behind-the-scenes efforts that hold a community together.
These efforts—whether in a classroom, a community build, or a reflective circle—are the embodiment of what it means to create resilience. They show us that we are not alone. We are a tribe of kindred spirits, and together, we are not only walking our own paths but paving a yellow brick road toward a more connected, purposeful, and resilient future.
My heartfelt thanks goes to our entire leadership team for their generosity in turning ideas into reality, and to each of you—our members—for participating, contributing, and showing up. Your engagement is the heartbeat of this community. Thank you Leona, Nicholas, Rainbow, Kainny, Vanessa, Henry and Paul.
I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events, where we will continue to create, connect, and grow together.
