It’s hard to believe we’ve already reached the third quarter of 2026. The year seems to have gathered momentum, and it has been encouraging to see so many of you joining our events, conversations, and initiatives.
The positive response to this year’s programmes has reinforced our belief that coaching has a much bigger role to play beyond the coaching profession itself. Our vision has always been to spread a coaching mindset across the wider coaching ecosystem—into organisations, communities, and society—and we are excited to be taking another important step towards that vision.
Recently, we invited our members to an Extraordinary General Meeting to consider amendments to our Memorandum and Articles of Association. Thanks to your trust and support, all motions were unanimously passed, paving the way for two new membership categories that will help us welcome more people into the HKICC community.
Emerging Individual Membership
Our first new membership category is designed for aspiring coaches who are currently enrolled in a coach training programme and are curious about where coaching might take them.
For a discounted membership fee, Emerging Individual Members will have the opportunity to experience the HKICC community for a year, participate in professional development events and outreach activities, build meaningful connections, and gain a deeper understanding of what a career in coaching can look like. When the time comes, they can seamlessly transition to another membership category as they continue their coaching journey.
Outreach Corporate Membership
Our second new membership category is for NGOs, non-profit organisations, and social enterprises that are actively fostering a coaching mindset within their organisations or the communities they serve.
Through Outreach Corporate Membership, their associates will be able to participate in HKICC events, access pro bono and low bono coaching initiatives, and collaborate with us on projects that create positive impact. We believe that coaching can be a powerful force for social good, and we’re excited to partner with organisations that share this belief.
We hope to launch both membership categories very soon, and as always, we welcome your ideas and feedback. HKICC has always been a community built by its members, and we look forward to shaping its next chapter together.
On a more personal note, I first joined the HKICC leadership team in 2015 after being invited by then-President Tony Dickel. Looking back, it’s difficult to imagine just how much this community would shape me over the past decade.
As I prepare to step down as President later this year, I find myself filled with gratitude. Thank you to everyone I have had the privilege of meeting, working with, and learning alongside. Whether through organising events, sharing ideas, asking difficult questions, or simply having conversations over coffee, each interaction has contributed to my own growth as a coach and as a person.
To me, HKICC has always been more than a professional association. It is a place where experienced practitioners and those just beginning their coaching journey come together with generosity, curiosity, and a shared desire to contribute to something bigger than ourselves.
One dream I continue to hold is to create a space that feels like a tribal campfire—a place where people gather not because they have all the answers, but because they are willing to listen deeply, think together, and imagine new possibilities. I hope to bring that vision to life in the near future.
