HKICC PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE December 2021

Dear members and friends,

With 2021 coming to a close, we at HKICC would like to wish you a wonderful time with your family and friends and a rewarding 2022 to look forward to. Those who have been with us for some time might notice the absence of a Christmas gathering this year. I am happy to tell you that we are instead planning a new year drink tentatively on 19th Jan with our fellow coaching associations to meet up with friends old and new at a more relaxed time between the calendar New Year and Chinese New Year. Please stay tuned for further details.

Furthermore, we are also planning to kickstart our 20th anniversary celebration with the first of a series of special events that will serve to reflect on and look forward to the development of coaching in Hong Kong In this first HKICC20 Dialogue tentatively on 12th January, we have invited our founding president Angela Spaxman to have a “fireside” chat with your current president (yours truly) on the story behind the founding of HKICC all those years ago. We’ll talk about how it has grown with the development of the coaching profession and market in Hong Kong, and where we see the profession going and how HKICC shall remain relevant in the evolving ecosystem.

I’m sure you also have many stories to share regarding this. We would like to ask you, our members, to send us short clips (1-2 mins) to share your story about how HKICC has made an impact on your journey as a coach. Please send this to us at president@coachinghk.com when your inspiration comes (and by the end of Jan hopefully). We shall post these wonderful clips on our soon to be relaunched website…to serve as a time capsule of the story of HKICC.

Talking about the new website, thanks to the hard work of the whole HKICC Manco (management committee) team and our vendors, it is almost ready and will be soft-launched later this week on 16th December 2021. As mentioned in my last message, our aim for this website revamp are two folds: firstly to transform the look and feel of the website to showcase HKICC as an open, friendly, and welcoming community. Secondly, to streamline and automate most of our services so as to free up time to provide you with a more personal touch and enhanced support especially in preparation for the roll-out of our new membership tiers to better cater to your unique professional needs.

• Upgraded “Find a Coach” function for Premium members with enhanced look and feel and search criteria so potential clients can find you more easily. To maximise the benefits of this function, I would strongly encourage you to update your coach profile by logging into your account.
• New Members Directory behind log-in protected webpage for you to easily connect with fellow members (still work in progress).
• To ensure that you have seamless access to the new website, your existing log-in password will be transferred to the new site so you can access your benefits instantly.
• We have renamed our Membership Categories to better reflect the different membership gradations. With revised benefits for each category of membership that commensurate with the subscription fees, you may now choose the one that best meets your needs. Our subscription fees have remained unchanged for the past 10 years or so, the slight increment of 10% from 1 Jan 2022 will provide us with additional resources to continue supporting and fueling the growth of our community.

We are currently doing our best in final testing before the soft launch, although some of the functionalities may not be available immediately. Please bear with us as these should be ready soon. In the meantime, if you encounter any issues in using the new website, please send a message to me at president@coachinghk.com so we can get it sorted for you as soon as possible. We would also love to hear your feedback about the new website. Thanks for your support and patience.

HKICC is a non-profit organisation supported by dedicated volunteers and we are always on the lookout for members who would like to give back to our wonderful community. At the moment we are looking for someone who can support us with finance, marketing, and also community outreach. Please let me know if you would like to contribute to the development of your coaching community in these and other ways.
